Sayuti Melik was the Indonesian typist of the original Indonesian Declaration of Independence, which was proclaimed by Sukarno on August 17, 1945.[1][2] Melik was the husband of S. K. Trimurti, an Indonesian independence activist, workers' rights advocate and journalist.[1][2]
